Missouri Elite 2000 Girls Take Silver at Blitz Invitational

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

The 2000 girls headed to Tulsa this past weekend to battle some premier U10 teams in the Gold Division of the Blitz United Invitational Tournament.

The girls kicked the weekend play off with a 2-2 tie against the home team, Blitz United Attack 2000. Next, the girls dominated Tulsa Thunder 2000-Japan from the start of the game and ended with a convincing 4-0 win. The Sunday morning match, against Hurricane 2000, was for the the bracket title so the girls were out for blood. The match started out tough but the Elite girls were too strong for Hurricane, dishing out 3 unanswered goals to win the game 4-1.

The stage was set as the Elite girls would meet the Tulsa Soccer Club 2000 Red girls in the final. TSC scored first off a ball bouncing around in the box but Elite came right back and put one in the back of the net to tie it up in the first half. Second half brought battle after battle proving both teams were not going to budge. In the last minutes of regulation play, a TSC forward got loose and was heading to goal. Maddie, the Elite sweeper, made a goal saving tackle to prevent the score but went down with a broken arm in the process. (**Note, Maddie suffered a complete fracture of the ulna and radius in her left arm and is currently under a doctor’s care but is doing great! Her first question after the pain meds set in was “Did I stop her or did she score?”…what a trooper!) The scare from the nasty injury and fatique was too much for the Elite girls as TSC capitalized on a breakaway in the last minute of the second overtime to take the final win.

The entire Elite soccer family is incredibly proud of the 2000 girls and look forward to what the future is going to bring for this team!

(*I forsee lots of medals =)!!!)

Fall Classic Update

Monday, October 19th, 2009

The Elite teams made quite the bang in the Fall Classic tournament this weekend!

The 96 girls battled a tough bracket with key players out with the dreaded flu and still walked away with a tie and two close losses.

The 92 girls outscored their opponents in bracket play 12-2 and coasted to the finals on a team high. They met SSC in the finals and kicked off the game with a goal in the first 40 seconds. Heading into the second half with the lead, the ladies fell victim to a lapse in marking and SSC capitalized on the mistakes. The final ended, 4-1 in SSC’s favor. Play by play details to come later this week….

The 2000 girls were the belle of the ball for this tournament. They came out of a tough bracket with the wild card and headed to the semi’s. Battling the returning champions from last year, the girls won the semifinal with some strong play in the second half. The girls faced off against a fellow A bracket team and were down 2-0 at half. With a renewed fight and a trio of goals from Brinnae Cooper, the 2000 girls camptured their first tournament championship!!! Congratulations Elite 2000!!! Pictures and play by play to come later….

Parents:

I am holding off on printing the fall schedules as I want to include training, league games and all tournaments in one calendar for easy access. So, with thatr said, below is a list of the training sessions for August. We have been assigned South Field # 8 (the southwestern field, closet to the fence line/cemetery, just south of the dome) at Lake Country. Please understand that it is LCS’s call in whether the fields are playable or not so please check the LCS website on questionable weather days before heading to training.

Introducing Missouri Elite FC

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Elite-LOGO-FinalMissouri Elite FC is a “Girls-Only” soccer club that has been providing training for six years in Southwest Missouri. You have known us as JB Marine Springfield but it’s time to spread our wings, much like the graduates of our training programs have. With alumni college players like Jessie Yach (Nixa career scoring leader), Regina Bodine (Willard) and Maggie Schrier (Glendale captain and Homecoming Queen), it’s easy to recognize our emphasis on training, sportsmanship and education.

In addition to the new name, the girls will be trading in their old green uniforms for new Argentina blue Adidas uniforms. However, the club name and colors are the only things that are changing. The club’s coaching philosophies and goals will remain the same. The club is committed to developing female athletes and will utilize female coaches who grew up playing in the area to assist with player development. The younger teams will continue to focus on skill development and fostering a true passion for the sport.

The older girls will continue to advance their knowledge and ability to take their game to the collegiate level. The club’s U18 team will travel to several college showcase tournaments where they will get exposure to college coaches from all over the region. The end goal is college scholarships for the girls who want to play college soccer.

For more infomation, please email club at moelitefc@gmail.com. The web site, www.moelitefc.com is currently under construction.
