Introducing Missouri Elite FC

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Elite-LOGO-FinalMissouri Elite FC is a “Girls-Only” soccer club that has been providing training for six years in Southwest Missouri. You have known us as JB Marine Springfield but it’s time to spread our wings, much like the graduates of our training programs have. With alumni college players like Jessie Yach (Nixa career scoring leader), Regina Bodine (Willard) and Maggie Schrier (Glendale captain and Homecoming Queen), it’s easy to recognize our emphasis on training, sportsmanship and education.

In addition to the new name, the girls will be trading in their old green uniforms for new Argentina blue Adidas uniforms. However, the club name and colors are the only things that are changing. The club’s coaching philosophies and goals will remain the same. The club is committed to developing female athletes and will utilize female coaches who grew up playing in the area to assist with player development. The younger teams will continue to focus on skill development and fostering a true passion for the sport.

The older girls will continue to advance their knowledge and ability to take their game to the collegiate level. The club’s U18 team will travel to several college showcase tournaments where they will get exposure to college coaches from all over the region. The end goal is college scholarships for the girls who want to play college soccer.

JB teams walk away with gold and silver finsihes at area tournaments

Friday, May 29th, 2009

The JB Marine teams wrapped up their 2009 tournament season this month with top finishes.

The 97 girls team headed to the Capital Soccer Club Spring Season Finale in Jefferson City, May 9-10, with high aspirations. Competing in the U12 8v8 bracket, the 97 girls dominated all their pool games and headed to the final with a perfect 3-0 record. With a balanced attack and a strong defensive front, the 97 girls walked away with the title and gold medal. Way to go ladies!

The 96 girls team ended their tournament season in Kansas City at the KC Legends Patriot Cup over Memorial Day weekend. Heading into the weekend, the ladies had to make adjustments to their lineup due to injury, but did not let it disrupt their rhythm posting a 5-0 win in the their first game vs. SSC Fire from Lee’s Summit. Next up was KC Strikers whom the girls had beaten in Springfield last fall. Battling stifling heat and a short field, the 96 girls put up two quick goals and coasted to the win. Sunday morning brought another KC team, the KC United Rangers. With a top defensive showing by the backs and goalkeepers and a very balanced attack up top, the 96 girls overcame the Rangers with a 3-1 win. Gliding into the final with a perfect record and a +8 goal differential, the girls met the KC Strikers for the third time this year. The game was evenly matched with both teams making big defensive stops and dangerous attacks to goal. A KC Striker player got loose in the box and drew a questionable foul that resulted in a penalty kick and goal. The 96 girls fought tooth and nail to the end, having most of the play in the second half, but just could not find the back of the net to even up the game. The final score was 1-0, KC. While feeling a sense of disappointment at the medal ceremony, the girls held their heads high and kept a positive JB spirit knowing that there will be many more finals in their future!

The coaching staff at JB Marine would like to congratulate all their teams for a phenomenal year. All players made a commitment to make a name for themselves and set a standard for competitive soccer from SW Missouri . We believe they did just that! Well done ladies, very well done!

JB 96 Takes Silver at Columbia Pride Invitational

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

JB Marine 96 participated in the Columbia Pride Invitational tournament in Columbia, MO, April 24-26. The weekend started with a 3-0 win against Lasers from the Kansas Premier league. Whitney Snow opened the scoring with a beautiful free kick from 30 yards out that sailed over the keepers head. Kelly Devlin and Alyson Galler added to the score with nicely placed shots in the lower corners in the second half. Next up, JB took on the Capitals-Fusion team from Jefferson City. With all players contributing to the attack, JB walked away with a 6-0 final win. Goals were scored by Kelly Devlin (2), Lindsey Frerichs, Paige Townsend, Jessica Cox, Kendall Letts. Heading into Sunday morning with 2 wins, the ladies battled with KC Select Nationals to a 1-0 win. The winning goal was pushed over the line by Shay Thomas after Whitney Snow placed a beautiful free kick right in front of the goal. The final matched the JB girls with KC Select Xtreme. The play was back and forth for an entire half until KC Select put an amazing shot from outside the 18 right inside the upper corner just a few minutes into the second half. A tired JB team continued to push for a goal but eventually succumed to the wind and KC Select walked away with a 2-0 win. Makenzie Foster played keeper all weekend and walked away with three shut-outs.

Way to Ladies!

***Note: This is the third final the 96 girls have made it to in just 4 tournaments! What an accomplishment!
